Check the current TDS for your required color, finish and roll size.
View 610 GSM FabricTurn a fabric description into clear, measurable order requirements.

A useful PVC tarpaulin specification sheet needs more than GSM. List the fabric and coating, weight, thickness, usable width, roll length, strength, weather tests and agreed tolerances. Add a unit and test method for each measured value. Before ordering, confirm which values are typical and which are required limits.
Use one product code, sample reference and document version.
Write the units, test methods and conditions beside the numbers.
Set the allowed range and the inspection plan before production.
| Document | What it does | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Technical data sheet (TDS) | Describes a named fabric grade and its technical values. | Product code, revision and whether values are typical, minimum or another stated type. |
| Purchase order (PO) + agreed specification | Records the material, quantity and requirements agreed for the order. | Required limits, test methods, approved sample and acceptance rules. |
| Sample or lot test report | Records results from the samples that were tested. | Sample or roll IDs, date, method, conditions and link to the supplied lot. |
Use this checklist to compare suppliers and prepare the specification attached to your PO. Fill in the exact requirements for your project.

| Field | What to write | Unit, method or check |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Product identity | Supplier, product code, TDS date/revision and approved sample ID. | Use the same references on the PO and test report. |
| 2. Construction | Base fabric, yarn and weave; coated or laminated construction; coating on each face. | State yarn units and fabric density units if specified. |
| 3. Total fabric GSM | Target mass per area and allowed lower/upper limits. | g/m²; total finished fabric, not coating alone. Example method: ISO 2286-2. |
| 4. Thickness | Measured thickness and agreed limits. | mm; state method and measuring pressure, for example ISO 2286-3. |
| 5. Roll dimensions | Total width, usable width, roll length, quantity and any allowed joins. | m or mm; define edge exclusions. ISO 2286-1 covers roll measurements. |
| 6. Strength | Tensile and tear requirements in warp and weft directions. | Force unit, specimen details and test method. Compare like-for-like results. |
| 7. Coating adhesion | Required adhesion of coating to the base fabric. | Unit and test details; for example ISO 2411. State which face is tested. |
| 8. Outdoor performance | UV/weathering, heat and cold requirements for the use. | Method, exposure conditions and result or retained performance required. |
| 9. Water and special needs | Water resistance; fire, mildew or chemical tests when needed. | Exact method, conditions, result and report scope. Check seams separately. |
| 10. Finish and color | Color reference, gloss/matte finish, lacquer or other agreed treatment. | Approved sample and any agreed color/finish acceptance checks. |
| 11. Delivery checks | Sampling plan, roll/lot labels, core, packing and response to out-of-range results. | State whether limits apply to samples, rolls or a lot. |
Test-method references describe how to measure. They do not set one universal commercial tolerance or prove that every fabric has passed a test. For a fair comparison, also record the sample conditioning, test temperature and humidity, and whether samples were tested wet or conditioned.

Blank buyer worksheet, about 64 KB. For the values of a specific fabric, request its current product TDS.
Replace the blanks, then confirm the finished specification with your supplier.

Ask for a target and clear limits for GSM, width and roll length. There is no single percentage that fits every order. Agree the range your cutting plan, equipment and performance needs can accept, plus how it will be measured.
| Item | Write this in the order | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| GSM | Target [ ] g/m²; minimum [ ]; maximum [ ]; sampling and acceptance basis [ ]. | Clarifies allowed variation. A batch average is not an individual-roll limit. |
| Usable width | Minimum cuttable width [ ]; edge exclusions [ ]; maximum width if your equipment needs it [ ]. | Total width and usable width may differ. |
| Roll length | Target [ ] m; lower/upper limits [ ]; joins and unusable sections allowed [ ]. | Makes the usable quantity and any short-roll handling clear. |
| Thickness | Target [ ] mm; limits [ ]; method and measuring pressure [ ]. | Pressure and measurement conditions affect the reading. |
If an order agrees 650 g/m² ±5%:
650 × 5% = 32.5 g/m²This is an arithmetic example, not a Uni-Tarp supply tolerance or an industry default. Confirm the actual limits for your order.
For example, two equal-area rolls at 600 and 700 g/m² have an average of 650 g/m². That does not mean either roll meets the example range above. Write the acceptance basis before comparing results.
Start with the climate and the way the cover will be used, then select the fabric grade. Specify UV/weathering performance, heat and cold needs, tensile and tear strength, coating adhesion and water resistance. GSM alone cannot set an outdoor service life.

| Condition | What to request | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Strong sun / UV | Weathering method, cycle, exposure time and results. | Color change, cracking and retained strength or other agreed properties. |
| Heat and freezing | Heat ageing and cold-bend requirements for the actual grade. | Test conditions and pass criteria. A cold-bend test is not a full service-temperature guarantee. |
| Rain and standing water | Water test pressure, duration and criteria; separate seam checks. | Fabric result, welded joint performance and cover drainage. |
| Wind and repeated handling | Warp/weft tensile and tear data, adhesion and relevant seam/fixing checks. | Material results together with the finished cover and support design. |
Color and strength are different: A lightfastness rating describes color performance. If strength after weathering matters, ask for retained tensile or tear results too.
Use our outdoor durability guide for climate selection. Laboratory weathering helps compare materials; there is no simple test-hours-to-outdoor-years conversion. ASTM G151 explains this limitation.
Before production: confirm the sample, specification revision, required limits and inspection plan in writing. Keep the agreed file with the PO so repeat orders use the same reference.

State the location, sun and rain exposure, temperature needs, cover size and handling conditions. Then agree the exact grade, strength, weathering, water and seam requirements. Use test evidence for that fabric, not GSM alone.
Product code and revision; base fabric and coating; GSM and thickness; roll dimensions; color and finish; tensile, tear and adhesion data; and the weather, water or special tests needed for the use. Include units, methods, value types and agreed limits.
Request a stated minimum and maximum, or a clearly defined one-sided limit where appropriate. Agree the range, measurement method and sampling basis with the supplier. Specify usable width and any allowed joins or unusable roll sections.
Use it as a starting point. Confirm the product code, revision, required limits and acceptance checks for your order. A typical value is not automatically a minimum. Attach the agreed specification to your PO.
